      Upholstery cost?

Anyone know the cost for new upholstery skins from ChristinesMarine or C&S Marine? 1997 Ski Nautique 196.

This is a boat I am thinking about buying but have not seen it in person yet. Trying to get an idea of what I will need to spend before I make an offer. I think I would go with seadek if the carpet needs replacing.

FYI prepping for seared for that year boat can be a nightmare.....at least thats what I thought on my 2003 after I pulled the carpet. A lot of sanding and maybe a gel coat where hatches are so you don't see pink fiberglass....I could be totally wrong with this boat. Just thought I would mention it. D

I've been handing out these estimates in this range on a couple forums for a couple years and someone will always come back with estimates at half that price. Good interiors are expensive plain and simple.

High quality marine rated materials are a good part of the cost but the shear labor by someone that has the level of skill required to pattern and sew the covers I would expect make up the majority of the cost. If you have someone that's skilled working an entire week to knock out the covers there's a cost associated with that. Add the materials, equipment and overhead of having a shop and you get to $5K pretty quick.

There's also not a lot of really good shops doing this work anymore so there's the supply and demand aspect of it too.
